Metallica Life Burns Faster Residency at Sphere

September 30, 2026

Las Vegas is about to get considerably louder. The Metallica Life Burns Faster residency at Sphere debuts October 1, 2026, launching a run of No Repeat Weekends that pairs one of rock’s biggest live bands with one of the world’s most technologically advanced entertainment venues. The 2026 dates run through November 7, with additional performances already scheduled at Sphere in early 2027.

But Metallica isn’t limiting the experience to the concerts. The band is turning its Las Vegas stay into a broader Life Burns Faster Las Vegas Takeover, with a Metallica Pop-Up Shop and Fan Experience at The Venetian, Black Box Fridays, special fan programming and other events surrounding the residency.

For fans traveling to Las Vegas, that creates the opportunity to turn a concert ticket into an entire Metallica weekend.

Metallica Life Burns Faster Residency at Sphere: 2026 Dates

Metallica’s 2026 Sphere schedule stretches across six No Repeat Weekends:

WeekendThursday ShowSaturday Show
Opening WeekendOctober 1October 3
Weekend 2October 8October 10
Weekend 3October 15October 17
Weekend 4October 22October 24
Halloween WeekendOctober 29October 31
Final 2026 WeekendNovember 5November 7

The residency then returns in 2027, with additional Thursday-and-Saturday performances scheduled from late January into March.

Metallica’s official tour calendar currently lists the 2026 Sphere performances as sold out, with waitlist options shown for select dates. Fans should check official sources for changes in ticket availability rather than relying on third-party availability claims.

What Makes Life Burns Faster Different?

The venue is only part of the story. Metallica is bringing its No Repeat Weekend concept to Sphere.

Attend both the Thursday and Saturday concerts within the same weekend and the band says no songs will be repeated between those two performances. That makes a two-show weekend fundamentally different from seeing the same tour production twice.

It also makes a longer Las Vegas stay more worthwhile for dedicated fans. Instead of flying into town for one concert and leaving the following morning, visitors can build a Thursday-through-Sunday trip around two different Metallica sets and spend Friday exploring the band’s takeover events.

Expect Metallica’s Catalog to Meet Sphere Technology

Metallica has performed in stadiums, arenas and unconventional settings around the world, but Sphere provides an entirely different canvas.

The Venetian says the residency will combine staples and surprises from Metallica’s catalog with Sphere’s immersive technology, giving the band new ways to present its live performance.

Sphere itself notes that its events can incorporate elements including seat haptics, movement sensations, intense lighting, visual effects, loud sound and atmospheric effects, although the exact combination varies by event.

For Metallica, a band known for making scale part of the live experience, that opens interesting possibilities.

The Life Burns Faster Las Vegas Takeover

The residency extends well beyond Sphere.

Metallica announced a collection of Life Burns Faster Las Vegas Takeover events designed to give fans things to do before shows and during the Fridays between each No Repeat Weekend. The band has also said additional events will be announced as the residency progresses.

That effectively turns portions of the Strip—particularly The Venetian Resort and nearby destinations—into a Metallica fan hub.

Metallica Pop-Up Shop at The Venetian

One of the most accessible parts of the takeover is the Life Burns Faster Experience, an expanded Metallica Pop-Up Shop and Fan Experience.

The experience is located inside The Summit Showroom at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas, just off Restaurant Row on Level 1 near the Bridge to Sphere.

For the first two weeks of the residency, announced operating hours are:

  • Wednesday and Friday: 10 a.m.–8 p.m.
  • Thursday and Saturday: 10 a.m.–after the show
  • Sunday: 10 a.m.–2 p.m.

Metallica has indicated that an updated schedule for later residency dates will follow.

The location is particularly convenient for concertgoers. Fans staying at The Venetian can visit the experience, dine at the resort and then make their way toward Sphere without building their day around transportation across Las Vegas.

More Than a Metallica Merchandise Store

Calling the Life Burns Faster Experience simply a merchandise shop undersells the concept.

Metallica describes it as both a pop-up shop and fan experience, and several residency-related programs will originate there. The expanded concept is designed to serve as a gathering point for fans throughout the Las Vegas run.

Opening weekend adds another layer with a live version of ‘Tallica Talk, hosted by Spider-Dan and Steffan Chirazi from SiriusXM’s Maximum Metallica.

The live broadcasts are scheduled for October 1–3 from 3–5 p.m. at the Life Burns Faster Experience. Fans attending can participate in the conversation and hear stories from two hosts who have longstanding connections to the band.

For travelers, that makes the pop-up worth visiting even if buying merchandise isn’t the primary objective.

Black Box Friday Fills the Night Between Shows

One of the smartest additions to the residency happens on Friday—the night separating each Thursday and Saturday concert.

Black Box Friday brings select events to The Stadium at The Palazzo, part of The Venetian Resort Las Vegas. Metallica has announced Friday programming on select dates between October 2 and November 6.

The Black Box is normally reserved for Enhanced Experience ticket holders on show days. During selected Fridays, however, Metallica is opening the experience more broadly through ticketed Black Box Friday sessions.

Guests can explore Metallica memorabilia, interactive exhibits and exclusive merchandise, with drinks also available.

The Art of Squindo

The first two Black Box Fridays—October 2 and October 9—include a special program with artist Squindo beginning at 4 p.m.

“The Art of Squindo” features a live discussion and Q&A centered on the artist’s work creating some of Metallica’s recognizable artwork over the past two decades.

For longtime fans, it offers something distinctly different from another concert or merchandise stop: a closer look at the visual culture surrounding the band.

Why The Venetian Makes Sense as a Metallica Home Base

The Venetian Resort isn’t simply close to Sphere—it is directly connected to the venue.

That becomes particularly valuable for fans attending both shows of a No Repeat Weekend. The resort says it will serve as a Metallica home base for everything from merchandise to credential pickup, while the Life Burns Faster Experience is positioned near the Bridge to Sphere.

Guests can spend Friday exploring the Metallica activities, restaurants and resort before returning to Sphere on Saturday.

VIP Hotel and Experience Packages

Vibee is the official Concert & VIP Hotel Experience Package partner for the Sphere residency.

The Venetian says official No Repeat Weekend packages combine tickets to the Thursday and Saturday performances with a three-night stay at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas. Diamond packages add benefits including a priority entrance lane and an exclusive package gift.

Availability can change quickly, particularly because Metallica’s official tour listings currently show sold-out performances and packages on several dates. Travelers should confirm current inventory directly through official channels.

Turn Friday Into Your Las Vegas Day

Fans attending both shows have an unusually convenient schedule:

Thursday: Metallica at Sphere
Friday: Las Vegas Takeover activities and a night on the Strip
Saturday: A completely different Metallica set at Sphere

That leaves Friday open for exploring Las Vegas without missing a concert.

Start with the Life Burns Faster Experience at The Venetian, attend Black Box Friday when available, make a dinner reservation and then explore the Strip before returning for Saturday’s show.

For travelers who prefer a more relaxed itinerary, Friday can also be the ideal day for a late breakfast, spa appointment, pool time or a long dinner.

A Metallica-Themed Blood Donation Experience

The Las Vegas takeover also incorporates Metallica’s charitable efforts.

A Red Cross x Metallica Blood Donation Experience, sponsored by Delta Air Lines, runs from September 28, 2026 through March 19, 2027 at Fashion Show Las Vegas. It is located on the mall’s second level near Dillard’s and is scheduled Monday through Friday from noon to 6 p.m.

The themed donation center incorporates Metallica artwork and memorabilia along with Maximum Metallica programming. Donors can sit behind one of Lars Ulrich’s TAMA drum kits and visit the Delta Backstage Lounge after donating. A limited-edition Squindo-designed T-shirt is also available to donors while supplies last.

Appointments are encouraged.

Planning Your Metallica Sphere Night

Sphere is located at 255 Sands Ave., just east of the Las Vegas Strip. Doors for Metallica open 90 minutes before showtime.

Because The Venetian is connected to Sphere, fans staying there have a straightforward route to the venue. Even so, don’t wait until the last minute. Sphere concerts attract large crowds, and opening nights and weekend performances can create significant pedestrian traffic.

Arriving early also gives you time to get oriented inside one of Las Vegas’ most unusual venues rather than rushing directly to your seat.

Tickets Are Mobile

Sphere uses mobile tickets only and recommends downloading tickets and adding them to your phone’s digital wallet before arriving.

Doing this before leaving your hotel is a simple precaution. You don’t want to be troubleshooting a ticket account while thousands of other fans are entering the venue.

Know the Camera Policy

Cellphone photos and videos are permitted with flash turned off, but Sphere prohibits video cameras, monopods, tripods, selfie sticks, audio-recording devices and professional cameras with telephoto or zoom lenses.

Sphere and The Venetian also advise guests to check current venue rules before attending because policies can change.

Who Can Attend Metallica at Sphere?

There is no age requirement for Metallica’s Sphere concerts, although Sphere strongly recommends that guests younger than 18 attend with a parent or guardian.

Children age two and older require tickets. Children younger than two can attend without their own ticket but must remain on a parent or guardian’s lap and cannot occupy a separate seat.

Families should also consider Sphere’s immersive environment. Loud sound, flashing or intense lighting, visual effects and other sensory elements can be part of events at the venue.

Metallica Turns a Sphere Residency Into a Las Vegas Takeover

The Metallica Life Burns Faster residency at Sphere is shaping up as much more than a series of concerts. The No Repeat Weekend format gives fans a reason to attend twice, Sphere gives Metallica an enormous new visual and technological canvas, and the surrounding Las Vegas Takeover extends the experience into the days between performances.

For traveling fans, The Venetian Resort provides the natural center of the weekend. The Metallica Pop-Up Shop and Fan Experience, Black Box Friday programming and direct connection to Sphere make it possible to build much of a three-night trip around the band without constantly crossing Las Vegas.

And with Metallica already promising additional takeover programming as the residency develops, Life Burns Faster is designed to make Las Vegas part of the Metallica experience—not simply the city where the concert happens.
